App Jazz Ft. ShopnStyle

Hello readers!

Today has been one of the most tiring days of my life ever. Thanks to the Bombay rains, I was delayed everywhere I went. But thanks to the same Bombay rains, so was everyone else, so I did pretty okay I think. If you know me, you’d know how particular I am about punctuality. If not, well I make people around me go crazy if I am ever late. Yes, it’s that bad. 🙂

Anyways, I came back home dead tired but I had to share a fun development in the fashion world with you! With apps and online shopping growing like never before, it’s only fair to say we are being spoilt for too many options. But more often than not, we don’t get to share that experience with our loved ones. I mean occasionally sending a Snapchat or a Whatsapp text of what you are shopping for with your friend is fine, but on a daily basis? Not so convinient, eh? Have you ever wanted to go shopping with your best friend but you couldn’t because well you have a long distance relationship with her? Enter ShopnSocial. This is a really fun app to begin with. Although the app is in its initial stages, what I absolutely liked about it is that it’s a one of its kind shopping experience. I’ll go through in details about that in this blogpost. Please realise that this is it’s first initial trials and being a startup myself, I’d know how that feels. And the very fact that they are doing something so unique is commendable. The app did a launch at Manchester post which they landed here in Mumbai and guess who got to experience it? Yay. Now let’s get back to business. The very idea of it seems exciting to me because:
a) it’s free
b) it involves shopping(!)
c) it doesn’t restrict you to a particular . you know
d) this is my favourite part- it is completely ad-free. So no spamming and unneccesary pop-ups on your window.
e) it has the potential to change the way online shopping works.

I do feel that the app could be a lot simpler and we need a help support on it too, but those are things that they assure us will be taken care of in the next few months. So if that works out well, this could be a great social app or shopping and socializing.

Well, I am really looking forward to seeing some fun stuff from these guys. For now you can check their app out on the Appstore if you have an iPad since its currently available on that and android. What you can also do is share your honest opinion with me if you use it and I’ll take it to the team who is actually looking for feedback right now.

Colouring Book

Inaaya walked down the lanes of an unknown terrain and found that suddenly the world was a colouring book. Imagine the joy in her heart and the glee on her face when she saw that all that she once believed in, was actually a reality. Growing up is a gradual process. As you start believing in what everybody tells you is right and wrong, you stop believing in yourself and your beliefs. Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, a happily ever after: all of it becomes too crazy to believe. You laugh at them. Life laughs at you in return..

You stop believing in making things happen and start doing what is being done. You stop challenging ideas and start accepting everything as it is. Life becomes pretty much black and white. But happiness? It’s still there. It doesn’t leave you. Lurking in a corner inviting you to open yourself up, colours are still out there. You just have to close your eyes, take a deep breath, smile and think what is your best childhood memory. And believe me, that first memory will take you down the same lanes Inaaya walked into. She went in as a grown up but a little girl walked out of them that day. And as she laughed and giggled, a little hope in life was restored again. ❤

The many lanes of Bandra are filled with some of the most beautiful murals and graffiti. Some tell me that parts of Bandra are a lot like Goa. I wouldn’t know. I completed 5 years in Bombay this June and I still haven’t been to Goa. Call me a nerd, but being a class topper requires focus. Today when I think about it, I lost out on precious time while I was studying and kids were exploring. But I have no regrets. Because I believe in fate. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. Getting back to this post, Off-shoulders are a serious trend this season. Whether you have flabby arms or not, a broad shoulder or a rather tiny one, they look extremely good on every body type. Investing in them is definitely advisable these summers. The striped skirt is self-designed and self-stitched but you could get similar skirts online on Koovs. No, they are not paying me. I just thought I’ll be nice. 🙂

Catchin’ up?

Hola peeps!

Pre-monsoon showers just hit Mumbai and boy could we be happier? Good bye sticky heat, and well hello puddles! I just hope we get ample rains in India this year. A lot of lives depend on it. Maharashtra is facing it’s toughest drought in years. Over 90 lakh farmers have been affected by it and the numbers keep increasing. It is scary. I hope we are all doing our bit by saving water as much as we can. I just reached Ahmedabad last evening and it is BOILING in here. Anyways, enough with the weather reports from around the world, the last two weeks were really full of surprises. I choreographed my first fashion show at the Mumbai Cricket Association and my team won. 🙂 Also, just yesterday I  conducted my first successful workshop as the Creative Head for Earth5r ❤
12 kids from Peru, Egypt, USA, Singapore, Malaysia, Tokyo, India and UK were taught how to use discarded waste fabrics and upcycle them into cute dolls. I had a gala time training these superb set of students who were so quick at grasping everything offered to them! Watch the video here. These kids will now be giving back to the community in the coming weeks and training people in the slums so as to help them generate income and sustain themselves. Who said fashion was just a show business? I love what I do. And I do it with a conscience. ❤

Well, enough with my little boasting session right here, but hey! I thought we were discussing life, no? Haha. I am still a clumsy kid and this session made me feel I should post an easy college look for my young readers. Felt SO old with these international interns around. I am 23. Okay? But as they say, age is just a number. smiles coyly

A floral easy breezy palazzo, a knot-me-up top, a pair of comfy loafers, a backpack and some geeky glasses: voila! You are ready for a day at college. Oh just BTW, this is my go-to attire when I have a long day and I know I’ll be running a lot of errands. It’s comfortable and convenient at the same time. So you don’t necessarily need to be in college to wear it. Just saying.

10 Frequently Asked Makeup Questions

Hello pretty ladies!
Most women love makeup. For me, I was introduced to makeup only after I started blogging. Until then I was a kajal and lip balm girl like most of you may be as well. But well, hello eyeliner! I enjoy makeup as much as I enjoy dressing up today.
This blog is a collaboration with a MUA and Hairstylist, Muskaan Sama where she has very kindly answered 10 FAQ’s about makeup and is sharing her wisdom with the With Love Inaaya family.
Happy reading.
❤
Muskaan Sama, 34, is a hairstylist cum makeup artist hailing from Mumbai. She also runs her own salon Swanky Makeover in Malad. For over 7 years, she has been in the industry and glammed up celebrities and brides. Her Salon has partnered with ZOOM TV for hair and makeup for their show: Let’s design season 3 &4 and Zoom Anchor Hunt 2012. She has  also worked with the likes of Miss Argentina (Micaela Lopez Bianchi), Miss Poland (Beata Stelmaszczyk)and Hollywood actress Ali Faulkner for their respective projects. Other than her numerous TVCs and print ads, Muskaan is a humble down-to-earth person who makes makeup really a fun experience. Here we have 10 FAQ’s Muskaan has answered for us:

Q. How can one do an easy smoky eye?

A. Smokey eyes can be created easily just with a kohl and a blending brush. All you need to do is follow these steps properly:

  • Apply kohl like an eyeliner and blend immediately with a blending brush.
  • Repeat these steps until you achieve the desired result!
  • So remember: apply, blend and repeat!

Q. Most of us end up making the blush look too artificial, what’s the best tool to blend it evenly?

A. To make the blush look as natural as possible, always after picking up the product, tap the body of the brush against the back of your palm. This will get rid of any excess product!

Q. What is the proper order of applying one’s makeup?

A. These days, thanks to INSTA-MUA’S theres no right or wrong way. But if you want to go by the books, start with concealing any spots. Then apply foundation over it and set it with a compact.

Q. Is lip liner really a must under lipstick?

A. I recommend the use of lipliners under lipsticks to maintain the durability of the product as well as to enhance the shade and make it look more opaque.

Q. What is that one hack to make your makeup stay longer?

A. My one hack would be to wait and let the product set between each layer!

Q. How often would you suggest washing of makeup brushes?

A. Washing of makeup brushes depends on the usage. If its for personal use, then it can be done when the brush is visibly carrying products. But for professional use, they are to be washed more frequently. I also spray them with Isopropyl alcohol (97%) before any appointment.

Q. What SPF would you suggest is perfect for the sticky Mumbai weather?

My personal favorite is the Clinique sunscreen, it keeps the face matte even after application.

Q. What is the best brand for foundations?

A. Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand. for more professional look, I prefer MAC.

Q. Is it okay to apply foundation everyday?

A. It is okay to apply foundation everyday ONLY IF you take it out thoroughly the same day. Keeping your skin clean is essential.

Q. One life saving makeup hack?

A. Since eyebrow gels aren’t big in Indian markets yet, I suggest to use transparent waterproof mascara to keep baby hair away from the face and also to set your eyebrows in a certain way!

Plum Natur Studio Kajal

  • Hi guys! I am sorry to have gone missing the last couple of weeks. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’d know that I have been traveling quite a lot lately and hence the delay in responding to all your messages and DMs. I am sorry!

I was in Bangalore last week and words would fall short to describe how enthralling the trip turned out to be. There’s something really special about meeting old friends and well I met three! You can imagine my glee, right? 🙂

Coming back to this post, I have been meaning to start talking about my experiences with cosmetics with you guys for a while now and I wanted to start with maybe this amazing kajal stick from Plum that I carried around in Bangalore? This stick is indeed a magic stick for my eyes. I’ve always had troubles having my eye make-up stay longer because I keep touching them but this one solved it!

Plum claims to be a 100% vegan brand that’s not tested on animals. Maybe it was this what made me like them more but why I genuinely liked the product was because it was exactly what they offered: Smudge-free, single swipe, easy to apply, jet black liner stick. I’ve been enjoying applying it and its only fair that I give them a good rating. 🙂

    Special Features :

      • Soft, creamy, gel-based single-swipe darkest black.
      • 100% smudge-proof and water-proof.
      • Brilliant black that looks “just applied” even after 12 hours.
      • Preservative-free, paraben-free, mineral oil-free, paraffin-free
      • Dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested & approved.
      • Rich in Vitamin E for care and protection.
      • 100% vegan formula, not tested on animals.
      • Plum is always free of parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, SLS, DEA and PABA.

Let me know if you try them out guys! And let me know what you think!

Treat Your Hair (:

InstagramHair

How many of us suffer from the I-don’t-like-my-hair syndrome? I am sure a majority of us do. Women with straight hair wish for curly hair. Women with curly hair wish for straight. And the ones with wavy? There mood wavers just like their hair! I have been there. I feel you amazing women. But thankfully I am over that phase now. I have come to realise that one can’t just “wish” for their hair to be a certain way. They need to work hard enough to do something about it. Just how you need to work out to be fit, you need to work on your hair for it to be beautiful. Of course you can chemically treat them, smoothen them, straighten them and do all kinds of experiments on them. But there’s something pure and organic about home remedies that make them special for me. If you’ve been following my blog, you’d know that I have fairly long hair. Today I felt like the need to share the secret behind them. I honestly am not a fan of spending 1500 bucks every fifteen days on a hair spa but I do believe that one should treat their hair just like they treat their taste buds. If you have the kind of money to splurge in a spa, well, stop reading right now because what you’ll read is the cheapest way of doing a hair spa at home and you might hate yourself for not trying it! It is my mom’s turban therapy technique to nourish your hair at home. Being brought up in a small town, we didn’t have the luxury to hit the spa and get our nails painted every week. So a lot of things that happened were within the four walls of our homes. Turban therapy I think is an age old practice but since Mommy dearest introduced me to it, I’ll be naive enough to call it hers. Oh yes.

What do you need: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Hair Brush, Towels, A Bucket Of Hot Water

Hair Regime

STEPS:

  • Step One: Mix equal portions of Olive oil and Coconut oil in a bowl and massage it onto your scalp. Rub it in and give yourself a champi. Taking help from Mom or a friend is allowed. (You can also use Castor Oil along with it for hair growth!)
  • Step Two: Use a hair brush and comb your hair. Make a top knot. This will make it easier for you to steam the hair.
  • Step Three: Soak towel in a bucket of hot water, wring it carefully and wrap it around your head like a turban. The steam would open pores which will allow the oil to penetrate deeper in the roots and nourish your hair.
  • Step Four: Repeat this process two-three times depending on your patience level and let the towel stay for fifteen minutes each time.
  • Step Five: Wash your hair with a mild shampoo and see your lustrous hair shine! Repeat this twice every month atleast for better results.

BENEFITS:

  • It helps reduce dandruff.
  • It helps reduce hairfall.
  • It helps in hair growth.

Haha! I think I’ve gotten too much into details. But hope this helps you! Let me know!

With Love,

Inaaya
