Kurta Skirts = Shadi Ready Ft. Flipkart

Hello Love!

I believe you guys know by now that yours truly is a Fashion Expert for Flipkart! If not, now you know. To begin with, the last couple of weeks have been crazy for me and I have been off the radar for a while, but I had a lot going on and I am so glad I’ve had you all by my side.:)

To make up for the lost time, this month I took it upon myself to make sure you guys are ready for the wedding season and we all know the most important part of any wedding is dressing up(!). Just kidding (not)!

Well, jokes apart, I have a really interesting way of dressing up for weddings which is both practical and socially acceptable (No, we are not wearing Pajamas!) and is also something that looks good: Kurta Skirt Sets! They are honest to god, number one on my list of to-wear-outfits for a friend’s mehendi or a cousin’s haldi. They are easy breezy, they are fun and did I mention absolutely chic? If you have a tummy like how I do, or are not really comfortable wearing short cholis and blouses, kurtas are your answer.
If on a budget, you can mix and match your kurtas and skirts but if you are not really sure about what would go best with what, Flipkart has a whole bunch of options you can pick and choose from.

Coming to the styling bit, to style my kurta skirt set, I kept it really minimal and just wore my mom’s oxidized silver earrings, anklets and a cuff. With short hair, there’s only so much you can do hence I just tied them half up. I tried keeping my make up really basic and fresh since the look was more suited for a day event. Oh also, kurta skirt sets have been trending on Flipkart, and you can find yours there too!
🙂

Until next time.

4 Ways To Get Striped Ft. Flipkart

Hey peeps,
How is it going for you?
In this blog post, as your Flipkart Fashion Expert I shall be sharing tips on how you can style a nautical striped crop top in multiple ways.
Stripes have a history to them. They really do. They are so versatile and fun to play with. But to be honest, they aren’t really a trend as much as they are basics. You can wear the same old stripes in multiple thicknesses and it feels different each time. Don’t believe me? Well, today let me  take you through four different ways in which you can style a nautical striped crop top.
One. Team it up with overalls. Put a bow on your head and wear some shiny shoes: Voila! you are ready for college
IMG_6408
Two. Skirts are flirtatious, fun and if worn the correct way, innocent too. (They also help hide thunder thighs for people like me!)
IMG_6652
Three. Wear a pair of high waisted pants and complete your look with some tan brogues like how I did. You are ready to rock that presentation!
IMG_6540
Four. Culottes are practical yet fun. Team up your culottes with block heels and have a retro feel to your look by wearing a pair of  transparent aviator glasses.

These are the four easy ways in which you can style your stripes crop top! Let me know which one you like best? Also, I got all the outfits from Flipkart. Go check them out!

Hello Family!

How is everyone doing? Can you believe that we are already nearing the end of 2016? With my birthday around the corner and so much happening on the work front, I haven’t had the time to go birthday shopping hence I have been just shopping online! 😀 I am almost done emptying my account for this month with just a few things I feel I need: Sunglasses. But one thing I suck at is shopping for glasses. Honestly, I need opinions from 20 different people and am not convinced that easy.

Getting the right eye wear can be quite tricky after all. Either it doesn’t fit well on your face or it exceeds your budget. And when you do find something that is reasonably priced, you have to be open to the idea that the quality would be compromised upon. Don’t we all face it? We go to an optical store with a fixed budget in mind. We have our own ideas of what we want. But do the sales executives get it? I doubt. They take extreme pleasure in showing us frames that are way out of our budget and then convince us into buying them. But the dilemma doesn’t truly end here. After 30 minutes of trying on various frames and innumerable selfies, when you finally decide on a pair (after mentally calculating the prices!), you are very conveniently informed that they have some really hi-fi lenses which are better than the regular ones and they would come at an additional cost. If it’s sunglasses, they would come up with these really tech names and convince you that why the expensive ones are better for your eyes!If you have the heart to spend an atrocious amount of money on a pair of glasses, great. Otherwise, the stressful cycle of selecting frames within your budget begins again.

But what if I told you that there is someone out there making your task easier? Someone who makes good quality frames which are afforable and fashionable? Someone who makes shoppingfor glasses a fun experience? You heard me right. Enter, Winkk. A young startup with the core idea of making eye wear shopping a lot simpler and affordable, Winkk runs through an online ecommerce website. And true to their word, their glasses are priced all under Rs. 2000, which is honestly pretty reasonable. The brand was established with a vision to create a platform that is honest and makes shopping for optical products easy, economical and fun. Trusting on their claim, I decided to order a pair of sunglasses from their website. When the parcel came in was I satisfied or what! The delivery happened within 3 working days and the product was exactly as the picture had suggested. What I also liked about them was their “Custom Eyes” feature. How the feature works is that a customer can upload a selfie and a team of virtual stylists at Winkk will get to work like little minions and shortlist a few styles for the customer. A personal touch with technicality know-how, it’s worth giving a try. No? And all at zero additional cost. You pay for the product, the services come complimentary. Being a designer and a fashion blogger, I am supposed to be a better judge of what would suit my face type and look good on me, and I accept I am really sorted on what I want. However, online shopping can be really tricky. Without actually wearing or trying something on, buying clothes is still okay because you have a set standard measurement chart. But when it comes to glasses, it has to not just fit but also suit your face type. No? Hence, when you have services that take care of this one major issue we all face, life is pretty much sorted! A fun fact about Winkk, which is also a noble fact is that they donate a pair of glasses to the needy for every purchase made. Isn’t that the sweetest?

You can check out their website here.

You can check out their Custom Eyes feature here.

You can buy the same sunnies I bought for myself here.

The Solitary Reaper

Now is the time you can say, “Oh hello stranger!” I get it. I deserve it, okay? Go on. Say it. I have been pretty much dead on my website for the longest time and you guys have every reason to hate me for leaving you alone for all this time! But can I atleast try and make up for it? Give me a chance?

Enough with the cute talk, if you are reading this, you have probably decided to give me a chance so “HELLO!”

As we close on 2016, I have a total of 4 story posts (I know I am sorry!) that have been in the drafts section of this site for the longest time and deserve that much needed attention. This one is my favourite and my personal best I feel and I am sharing raw unedited pictures straight from the camera. Inspired by a childhood favourite poem, “The Solitary Reaper” this idea and concept came in quite effortlessly. However, I have to admit that the trek up these treacherous hills required some extra efforts! To give you a better understanding of the mood, I have shared the poem below. Enjoy reading!

‘The Solitary Reaper’

Behold her, single in the field,
Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.

No Nightingale did ever chaunt
More welcome notes to weary bands
Of travellers in some shady haunt,
Among Arabian sands:
A voice so thrilling ne’er was heard
In spring-time from the Cuckoo-bird,
Breaking the silence of the seas
Among the farthest Hebrides.

Will no one tell me what she sings?–
Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow
For old, unhappy, far-off things,
And battles long ago:
Or is it some more humble lay,
Familiar matter of to-day?
Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,
That has been, and may be again?

Whate’er the theme, the Maiden sang
As if her song could have no ending;
I saw her singing at her work,
And o’er the sickle bending;–
I listened, motionless and still;
And, as I mounted up the hill,
The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more.

-William Wordsworth

The. Classic. Diwali

Happy Diwali!

I have been forever busy with preparations for a few new things planned with my label and that has pretty much kept me off social media. So well this is my come back effort to coax you guys into liking me again. Okay? Sharing a few pictures from the second look I shot with Sohail! 🙂

We kept it really subtle and classic for this one. A classic bandgala suit for Sohail in black and black shoes was enough to give him that suave look. And well I wore a white on white kurta set with a contrast dupatta. I kept it really subtle with pearl jhumkas and bangles and a pretty gold clutch to accessorize my look!

‘Em Rustic Diwali Feels.

Happy Dhanteras you all!

Diwali is right around the corner. Can you believe it? Last year this time I was working in a 9-5 job and struggling everyday to keep up with the fast paced life that I was living. This year I am in a flight to Ahmedabad as I type this blog post (on my dad’s loaned laptop). I no longer wait for holiday approvals before booking a ticket to home. I can also work at my own convenience. That also means I need to work 24 hours sometimes because I carry work back home.  I am my own boss and my own employee (as my mom likes to remind me every day!) But if someone asks me to go back and change any of it, I wouldn’t. 🙂

Diwali is my favourite festival of them all, minus the fire crackers and the toxic smoke, I love everything about it! I know this is coming in a little late considering Diwali is in 2 days but I really wanted to share two really easy looks with my family. And an added bonus? This time I am not alone. I have Sohail as my partner for a Mr. and Miss combination! Boys, are you listening yet?

The first one is a very desi look for both of us. The idea was to combine a look from whatever separates we have in our wardrobes. In my case, I tried doing a DIY Garara set knowing that Shararas and Gararas are back in trend. The skirt I am wearing is made out of a saree I had bought from Khadi Bhandar. The dupatta was actually a felicitation gift given to me a few months back at this fashion show I had choreographed (a little bragging there). The kurta is Fab India. Combine whatever is in your wardrobe and voila! You have your own budget version of the Garara set!

Sohail doesn’t have a lot of ethnic clothes. I think for someone who doesn’t wear Indian at all, it was a rather nice gesture on his part to agree on working on this blogpost with me. But we cannot deny we had a really hard time figuring out what could be combined to make a dressy and wearable Indian wear look for men without a lot of choices. Finally we found this kurta in his wardrobe that is a short, really casual grey linen kurta with patialas borrowed from Zaid. The look goes with his taste and doesn’t make him very uncomfortable about being in ethnic. I love the black mojris he wore with the look. Understated yet let’s the other person know that we know what we are doing!

The second look? Tomorrow Shoomorow! I promise

Inaaya

Mirror.Mirror. Ft. AlterMirror

Hello Family,

One thing fashion blogging has taught me in the last one year is that all of us wish to look and feel good about ourselves. Who doesn’t want to get noticed and complimented for how they are carrying themselves? I doubt anyone would say no to that! Over the last few months, a lot of you have approached me for styling tips, make-up advice and hair care regimes. And believe me when I say it that it makes my day to see your questions and interact with you! While I’ve tried to do my best and answer all the queries that keep coming in, it made me realize that there are a lot of people out there who need advices on fashion, make-up and hair but do not have the right resources or the time to go for consultations. Enter AlterMirror – a mobile grooming app – that resolves all these issues and more. AlterMirror allows one to get expert advice and supervision on grooming without having to invest in any extra products or services. The idea is to help you look fab with what you have.

Fortunately for me, I had the luck of stumbling upon this app last week and I can honestly vouch for the quality of their services after having used the app. The app breaks down all barriers of distance and time and connects you to the best grooming experts from around the country who answer all your queries about fashion, make-up, hair and total grooming. So how does it function? Let me break it up in 7 steps for you:

  • Step one: Download the AlterMirror Android app from Google Play Store
  • Step two: Fill in your profile details and upload a cute picture of yourself
  • Step three: Select from the 4 services offered on the app – Makeup, Hair, Fashion and accessories and Total Grooming
  • Step four: Browse through the profile of all the Consultants offering the service that you have opted for and select a Consultant of your choice
  • Step five: Book an appointment with your selected Consultant
  • Step six: Make sure to show up at your designated time of appointment and call your Consultant using the video calling feature of the app
  • Step seven: Introduce yourself and ask your Consultant all the questions you have on the service that you have opted for

img_20161003_120045img_20161003_120254img_20161003_120215img_20161003_120331

Sometimes I feel being new to the world of make-up, there are so many tricks of the trade that I am unaware of. Hence the moment I saw this app, I knew what I wanted out of it! I booked an appointment for a Makeup session with Neelam Kamall who is a Bangalore based Makeup artist and it was a wonderful experience! Neelam was patient enough to answer all my questions. Due to a lot of late night work and stress, I’ve developed these dark circles that never seem to go away. My big question to Neelam was how I could hide these dark circles using make-up until I got back to my daily sleep routine. Did you know that one is supposed to use a darker shade of concealer instead of a lighter shade under one’s eyes to hide dark circles and blemishes in general? I may sound like a dummy but honestly I had no idea! Neelam also helped me with the kind of foundation that would suit my T-Zone skin type and work in the humid Mumbai weather. My questions weren’t stopping anytime soon but she was patient enough to answer them all. The conversation lasted 23 minutes or so and the video quality of the app was great. There were no voice lags or hazy frames which is usually the case when you are video chatting and travelling at the same time. So if you are someone who is always on the go and doesn’t have the time to go to experts for consultation, this app could prove to be quite useful. At Rs. 350, a grooming session with an expert regardless of where you are is definitely not too heavy on the pocket. The app is in its launch phase and is offering a Rs. 100 off on your first consultation. Use the Coupon Code AMPROM01 until October 15 to get this price off.

Unless you are a professional, we all need grooming tips and advice that is personalized and relevant for each of us. While there are other sources of such advice like YouTube, the advice there is very generic. I have seen a lot of tutorials on YouTube and I know it is useful overall but often a more personalized experience can make a lot of difference. Try the AlterMirror app to believe it and let me know what you feel about the app and its services. I would love to hear. 🙂

With Love,

Inaaya
