True Roots #FaceItSolveIt

Spotting that first strand of grey hair is really not a sight we all want to have. From experimenting with many styles to flaunt our healthy and ever-so-good hair, we find ourselves trying to hide those few greys. While we don’t mind carrying that uber-cool salt-and-pepper look sometimes, but that’s not the every-day look we want to have, right? That one single silver strand can be intimidating sometimes, as it opens up a new chapter telling us that our greying-phase is about to begin. And in all of this frenzy, we have so many unanswered questions- Will they go away with time? Or will they increase beyond my control? Is it in my genes? Or is my lack of work-life balance the cause?

Greying of hair is natural with age, but when hair starts greying early we often wonder why? Thankfully science has the answer and now Marico’s True Roots offers a solution to delay hair greying from the roots. Greying of hair is caused due to decreasing levels of melanin in the hair roots. Melanin is a natural pigment, which gives hair its dark colour. Marico’s True Roots Botanical Hair Tonic, is a first-of-its kind innovation, that works by increasing the melanin levels in the hair roots and thereby delays hair greying. It is formulated with Apigenin, an extract of chamomile flowers and powerful botanical actives that increase the melanin levels in the hair roots.

Some blame the grey on genetics but that’s not the only reason- not following a proper diet, irregular sleeping habits, work or personal stress, pollution, lifestyle habits, hair coloring at an early age, etc. But the main reason we start greying is because of melanin depletion in roots. Melanin is a pigment that each hair follicle has, and it gives hair its color. As we age, our scalp produces less pigment, resulting in whitening from the roots. In such cases we call it premature greying, which means you start greying when it really is not your age to grey.

So what does True Roots contain?

Chamomile flower makes for a fantastic hair colorant especially for the Indian hair types. It contains a pigment called apigenin, which helps in producing melanin that in return gives hair its natural color.

Radhika Apte, launched Marico’s newest brand ‘True Roots’, that delays hair greying from the roots. True Roots Botanical Hair Tonic is dermatologically tested and is clinically proven to show no new greys in 90 days. The actor, who is known for her choice of diverse roles, and speaking her mind, spoke about the #FaceItSolveIt philosophy of True Roots, while launching it here at an event today. True Roots has been launched on Flipkart as a first digital brand.

Going down the Acne lane with Safi!

Some incidents are just reminders of a life you’ve lived long ago. You can call it nostalgia but to me, pimples’ making a comeback in my life was definitely not a happy nostalgia. But with a lifestyle which is full of oily food, erratic sleep patterns and a crazy busy schedule, the body will rebel in some way! In my case, that way was through breakouts all over my face. Imagine my horror! I remember when puberty had graced me with pimples and acne all over my face, Maa had come to my rescue with her homemade red chandan paste (Sandalwood) and a bottle of Safi. I remember having a flawless skin eventually because I’d gulped down four bottles of this natural anecdote in the summer breaks and never had to look back again. Of course it did include a lifestyle change which meant more water intake, less sugary drinks (Did you know that sugar actually increases acne?)

Anyhow, fast forward 5 years, my skin started breaking out and acting all teenage-ry again. So as was obvious I went back to the good ol’ green bottle of Safi.

Safi is a 100% natural and herbal blood cleanser and purifier which is decently priced at Rs.85 for a 200ML bottle.

The core ingredients are as follows:

Sana (Keeps the stomach clear and helps prevent skin problems), Revand Chini (Purifies blood and improves liver function), Neem (A natural blood purifier and cure for all skin problems), Chiraita (Purifies the blood and keeps it toxin free for better conditioning), and Tulsi (Helps give you that natural glow and improves blood circulation)

Around three weeks of Safi and I cannot stop gushing over the amazing effect it had on my skin. Although, there were already break outs on my skin and they did not go away in the first week, and I did have my moment of panic but after a week all the break outs declined to a considerable amount. My face became very clean and glowed naturally. This is definitely something I am recommending to all of you girls and guys too!

The verdict:

  1. Long term effects on pimples
  2. 100% natural and safe
  3. Apart from skin problems, it also cures indigestion and checks on weight management.
  4. The taste is a little bitter to start off with (But it can be easily managed by adding some water to it)

Hamdard Safi is definitely something I can vouch for and the tag line Ragon Mein Khoobsurati with Safi is so apt because it really does cleanse your blood and body from the inside!

Try taking two teaspoons of Safi every day with an increased intake of water and see the effects! And don’t forget, consistency is key! Stay consistent even if you feel it’s not doing much good. You don’t know that it is cleaning your body from the inside!

Garnier Ultra Blends

Garnier is a part of the French cosmetics company L’Oréal. It is a pioneer brand when it comes to cosmetics on a budget. But they surely went all out there when it came to Visual Merchandising. For the launch of their Ultra Blends range, Garnier set up a display at Phoenix, Lower Parel and boy was I amazed! The very vibe of the place was so beautiful and fresh, it had me hooked. If you don’t believe me, look at the pictures down below!

Do you believe me now? 🙂 So there were 4 product ranges that were launched. And the best part about them is that they are very reasonably priced and of course, they smelled delicious! A shampooo bottle priced at Rs. 120 can be bought by any of us to give a try. An honest request, use the products atleast 3-4 times before deciding if it suits your hair or not.

To make it easier for you, let me give you a break down of which product would suit which hair type according to me:

Ultra Blends Soy Milk and Almonds shampoo

The formula here is a blend with Soy Milk and Almonds, known for their rich protein content. They vouch that it intensely repairs and restores damaged hair. But I feel my hair felt incredibly soft with every wash.

Ultra Blends Henna & Blackberry Nourishing Shine Shampoo

For those of you who have dull hair that lacks shine, this formula might work wonders. The reason why hair lacks shine is due to lack of nourishment. This range is a blend with Henna & Blackberry and not only does it nourish your hair but also gives it shine.

Ultra Blends Royal Jelly & Lavender Anti Hairfall Shampoo

Those of you worrying about your hairfall, worry no more. Atleast for brittle hair, this product might help some. Hair tends to fall more when it is weak and fragile so this formula is a blend with Lavender Essence & Royal Jelly, known to be rich in amino acids, vitamins and lipids. It helps reinforce and strengthen your hair.

Ultra Blends 5 Plants Revitalizing Shampoo

The city life exposes our hair and scalp to a lot of pollution, dust and heat, making it weak and lifeless. To revitalize your hair, this one here is a blend with 5 precious herbs- Green tea, Eucalyptus, Aloe, Lemon & Henna – known for Anti-oxidant power, Anti-bacterial property, Moisture, Shine and Conditioning respectively.

Seven Haircuts To Try: 2016 Edition

Hello there!

How is everyone doing? I am not in one of my best forms, have been better. But well, that doesn’t stop me from blogging and talking to you all. ❤

I’ve been asked by a lot of you through DMs and messages on what haircuts to go for after you saw my super cool haircut (Just kidding!). I am so grateful to each one of you for the compliments and love you’ve showered upon me the last few months. Blogging has definitely been the best decision I ever made. It made me realize that there are so many wonderful people out there in the world I never knew existed. Coming to you guys whenever I feel low is a wonderful feeling. With all honesty, you guys are now a big part of my tiny little heart, so thank you. (:

And well, since you insisted (not!), I decided on doing one of my “SEVEN” best blogs for you. If you don’t know what I mean, you need to read this and this. 🙂

So here is a list of Seven Hairstyles you should definitely try this season. They are not arranged in order of preference so I love number 8 as much as number 1! Gotcha! There is NO number 8. Okay, Sorry.

  1. Layered Bob/Lob: Whether you have poker straight hair or wavy ones, this one is an absolute joy to have! It’s sexy and it’s low maintenance. Although if you do have voluminous hair you might need a little mouse to texturize it and tone it down. But if your hair is limp, this cut will give an added illusion of volume.

Layered Bob/Lob
  1. Bob With Bangs: Cute as cute can get, bangs are my favourite this season (for obvious reasons) but bangs with a short bob takes the cuteness a notch higher. If you really wish to chop off your hair, this is a haircut I am betting will make heads turn. Although I do recommend side swept bangs for a round face. Front bangs with a short bob on a round face may be a little overwhelming to have.

  1. Over Grown Layers: If Selena Gomez has them, you shouldn’t need any further convincing. For all the women out there who are afraid to cut their length short but still want a change, this haircut is a classic. It’s modest and in vogue. I also like the fact that it works well with straight and wavy hair both.

Over Grown Layers
  1. Asymmetrical Angled Lob: An edgy haircut that’s trending this year is the asymmetrical lob. Although I would never muster the courage to try this (I have this thing about things looking symmetrical), if you don’t suffer from the same disorder I do, go give it a shot and share pictures with me!

  1. Bangs with Long Hair: Yay! You know why this remains to be on the list right? If not, you should probably click here. Duh. Anyways, another long hair favourite, this haircut is adorable for more than one reason and it makes you look much younger than you actually are. So give it a try. A couple of my friends/followers have actually taken cues and gotten this cut already but if you haven’t yet, I’d suggest you give it a shot. But let me be honest, you don’t wake up looking like this. Atleast I don’t. Its all over my head like a halo. But it can be tamed. No need to stress out.

  1. Angled Bob: Edgy yet feminine for some reason, this is a haircut you must try if you intend on going for a bob. You could keep them straight, wavy or curl them a little. That’s totally on you. But don’t they look amazing in side pictures? drools

Regular Angled Lob
  1. Pixie Cut: Are you really an experimentalist? If yes, this is a haircut you must try. I do feel it looks best on angular faces with a strong law line though. But if you are round faced like how I am, and strong headed like how I am, you’ll get it regardless. 🙂

10 Frequently Asked Makeup Questions

Hello pretty ladies!
Most women love makeup. For me, I was introduced to makeup only after I started blogging. Until then I was a kajal and lip balm girl like most of you may be as well. But well, hello eyeliner! I enjoy makeup as much as I enjoy dressing up today.
This blog is a collaboration with a MUA and Hairstylist, Muskaan Sama where she has very kindly answered 10 FAQ’s about makeup and is sharing her wisdom with the With Love Inaaya family.
Happy reading.
Muskaan Sama, 34, is a hairstylist cum makeup artist hailing from Mumbai. She also runs her own salon Swanky Makeover in Malad. For over 7 years, she has been in the industry and glammed up celebrities and brides. Her Salon has partnered with ZOOM TV for hair and makeup for their show: Let’s design season 3 &4 and Zoom Anchor Hunt 2012. She has  also worked with the likes of Miss Argentina (Micaela Lopez Bianchi), Miss Poland (Beata Stelmaszczyk)and Hollywood actress Ali Faulkner for their respective projects. Other than her numerous TVCs and print ads, Muskaan is a humble down-to-earth person who makes makeup really a fun experience. Here we have 10 FAQ’s Muskaan has answered for us:

Q. How can one do an easy smoky eye?

A. Smokey eyes can be created easily just with a kohl and a blending brush. All you need to do is follow these steps properly:

  • Apply kohl like an eyeliner and blend immediately with a blending brush.
  • Repeat these steps until you achieve the desired result!
  • So remember: apply, blend and repeat!

Q. Most of us end up making the blush look too artificial, what’s the best tool to blend it evenly?

A. To make the blush look as natural as possible, always after picking up the product, tap the body of the brush against the back of your palm. This will get rid of any excess product!

Q. What is the proper order of applying one’s makeup?

A. These days, thanks to INSTA-MUA’S theres no right or wrong way. But if you want to go by the books, start with concealing any spots. Then apply foundation over it and set it with a compact.

Q. Is lip liner really a must under lipstick?

A. I recommend the use of lipliners under lipsticks to maintain the durability of the product as well as to enhance the shade and make it look more opaque.

Q. What is that one hack to make your makeup stay longer?

A. My one hack would be to wait and let the product set between each layer! and

Q. How often would you suggest washing of makeup brushes?

A. Washing of makeup brushes depends on the usage. If its for personal use, then it can be done when the brush is visibly carrying products. But for professional use, they are to be washed more frequently. I also spray them with Isopropyl alcohol (97%) before any appointment.

Q. What SPF would you suggest is perfect for the sticky Mumbai weather?

My personal favorite is the Clinique sunscreen, it keeps the face matte even after application.

Q. What is the best brand for foundations?

A. Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand. for more professional look, I prefer MAC.

Q. Is it okay to apply foundation everyday?

A. It is okay to apply foundation everyday ONLY IF you take it out thoroughly the same day. Keeping your skin clean is essential.

Q. One life saving makeup hack?

A. Since eyebrow gels aren’t big in Indian markets yet, I suggest to use transparent waterproof mascara to keep baby hair away from the face and also to set your eyebrows in a certain way!

Hope this was helpful. Thanks for reading!

Long Hair. Don’t Care. Ft. JCB

When a salon like Jean Claude Biguine invites you to come down and experience their salon services, you must understand what you are in for: you are in for some really professional treatment. I was no different. I walked into JCB’s Lokhandwala branch with a happy smile and boy, the smile just grew as the day advanced!

I have been asked about my hair care regime frequently and well I am a home-remedy kind of girl so if you’ve been following me, you must have read my previous blog on towel therapy. If not, here’s a link.

Since I have really long hair we had already decided for a hair care regime for me over the phone. Solo was my hairstylist and consultant for the day and I have to mention that he was very(read slowly) patient. I know it only too well how difficult it can get to manage long hair and this guy here was a gem. We began by talking about the kind of hair issues I had. I was only too keen to crib! After I’d shared my woes (!), Solo suggested what kind of treatment would suit my hair best. I have frizzy hair and a flaky scalp. I used to think dandruff and flaky scalp were one and the same but apparently not! We went in for an SP INTENSE ALCHEMY hair spa for my hair where the scalp and the hair was treated separately. It began with a really relaxing hair wash. After the hair wash, my hair were towel dried and the excess water was removed. A mixture of SP Keratin Restore with SP Balance Scalp mask was made which was then applied to the length of my hair while Wella’s Smoothen infusion was massaged in. I was kept in a dimly lit room and it helped in relaxing me a little. After the hair was given a steam, Solo rinsed out the products from my hair and gave me a nice blow dry!

Results? My hair felt so much more smoother and I felt so much more relaxed after this rejuvenating spa. I do realize that one session will not change my hair, but I felt happy to have treated them to some good treatment nonetheless. If visiting JCB Lokhandwala, ask for Solo! 🙂
